Gov. Cuomo expressed his "best wishes" to President Donald Trump and the first lady announced they tested positive for COVID-19.
He said during a conference call Friday morning that he hopes they have "mild cases and a speedy recovery."
"Politics is politics...but on a human level, the president grew up in New York, from Queens, I know the first lady, so I sincerely wish them the best," said Gov. Cuomo.
The governor also said the positive cases for President Trump and Melania Trump drives home the gravity of the pandemic and that the public must "take this seriously."
The governor also repeated that local law enforcement must enforce COVID-19 requirements and issue fines to those not wearing a mask in public.
"Compliance is enforcement. Compliance is not education," he said.
