Gov. Andrew Cuomo says he has ordered increased security at transportation hubs and other locations around New York.
The move is in response to a "heightened threat of terrorism," although the governor says there have not been any specific threats.
The increased security measures will affect New York City tunnels, bridges, train stations and airports. Cuomo says the stepped-up security efforts are already underway and will likely last months.
Cuomo spoke at a press conference Friday, where he said New York is always a potential target for terrorists.
Gov. Cuomo says he plans on meeting with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to further discuss security, and that a formal plan will be announced next week.
