Gov. Cuomo was in Mount Vernon on Sunday morning to reveal the latest piece of his agenda for 2015.
The governor visited Grace Baptist Church, where he announced that he will create a new state unit called the Office of Faith-Based Community Development Services.
Cuomo says $50 million will go into the program, which is aimed at helping nonprofit organizations build housing and provide services for the poor.
Worshippers at the church say they appreciate the move, and say the $50 million will be money well spent.
The governor provided little detail on how the program will work, but he is expected to explain more when he gives his State of the State address on Wednesday.
