Gov. Andrew Cuomo was in Yonkers Sunday addressing the city's ongoing school budget crisis.

Cuomo says the state will be making a financial commitment to the City of Yonkers to prevent teachers from losing their jobs and save school services.

He unveiled the Upstate Distressed Schools Fund at Yonkers City Hall. Cuomo says the money would come from a $100 million fund that he wants to set up to bail out cash-strapped schools all across New York, including Yonkers.

The school district is facing a $26 million shortfall.

Parents and students are demanding a solution.

Without the money, more than 100 jobs will be cut from the district, including classroom teachers.

Programs like art, music and sports are also in jeopardy of being cut.

The proposal still needs to be passed by school lawmakers. Albany lawmakers only have a few days to pass the proposal.
