Former President Bill Clinton joined community members for the opening of a Holocaust Memorial in downtown Chappaqua Wednesday evening.
The dedication ceremony took place near the gazebo on South Greeley Avenue.
The memorial was created to serve as a place to learn, remember and reflect on lessons from the Holocaust. "We are living in a time when resentment and bringing people down seems to pay more immediate rewards then lifting everyone up. I think that this night should sober people up about that. We should redouble our determination," says Clinton.
The opening comes a few days before the anniversary of Kristallnacht when Nazis attacked people of Jewish faith on November 9 and 10 in 1938.
