The New York Knicks teamed up with the Mount Vernon community to turn a long-neglected playground into a slam dunk.
Several former Knicks stars worked side-by-side with hundreds of volunteers in the community Saturday to overhaul the Mount Vernon playground, doing everything from re-surfacing the grounds to installing a new jungle gym.
Former Knicks star Larry Johnson and other players were on hand for the makeover on Lorraine Avenue.
The playground is getting a new jungle gym, basketball court and many other amenities thanks to the Knicks, the city of Mount Vernon and the children's non-profit organization Kaboom.
