(09/10/06) FORDHAM ROAD - Tens of thousands attended the Fordham Road Renaissance Festival in the Bronx Sunday.

Music filled the air in what supporters called the Bronx?s most popular street festival. The director of the Fordham Road Business Improvement District (BID) says the festival celebrates the rebirth of the Bronx that has taken place over the past 11 years. Businesses on Fordham Road kept their doors open while they and other vendors set up stands along the street. Many different ethnic foods were sold, along with fresh produce, CDs and other goods.

Organizers estimated that more than 60,000 visited the event and anointed Fordham Road the Bronx's top shopping area.
