You can officially add the Hudson Valley's largest city to the list of places where you can legally buy recreational marijuana products.
On Thursday, May 9, The Plant opened its doors at its new location on Central Avenue. The store sells state-grown and tested cannabis products.
The Plant co-owners and Yonkers natives Regina and Anthony Bannister said they are thankful to be opening the city's first adult-use retail dispensary.
"This is really three years in the making for us," Regina Banister said. "[It was] a lot of emotional and financial stress that was on us due to lawsuits and just a lot of things that held us back but we stayed persistent and we are just overjoyed to be here today."
The Plant joins a growing number of Lower Hudson Valley adult-use dispensaries approved by the state in Mount Vernon, Newburgh, Nyack, Poughkeepsie, Pound Ridge and White Plains.
