An apartment building fire left several people homeless and injured Monday night in Yonkers. 
Officials say the fire started around 11 p.m. in a first-floor bedroom of an 18-unit apartment on Palisade Avenue. 
Eight firefighters were transported to the hospital for heat exhaustion, according to authorities. 
Everyone safely escaped, and no other apartments were damaged.
