The cold weather and a shortage of fire trucks made putting out a blaze Sunday in Mount Vernon especially difficult.
Mount Vernon firefighters, who have only one fire truck in service, were called out to an abandoned building on Third Avenue at about 9:30 a.m. Additional firefighters from Eastchester and Pelham were brought in to aid in extinguishing the fire.
Fire officials say the blaze was eventually put out in about 20 minutes, and they think the cause may have been electrical. No one was injured in the fire.
