James Burriss is a volunteer firefighter and EMT with the Plattekill Fire Department.
The 59-year-old was arrested earlier this month after a state police investigation alleged he sexually assaulted an underage girl.
Burriss is facing several charges, including endangering the welfare of a child and rape.
He's now on leave from the Plattekill Fire Department and is being held in Ulster County Jail on $5,000.
