The Food and Drug Administration has issued emergency use authorization for Moderna's coronavirus vaccine.
Moderna's vaccine is reportedly easier to handle than Pfizer's, making distribution less of a challenge.
The second vaccine authorized for use in the United States does not need to be kept super-cold when transported and stored. Distributors can keep the vaccine in normal freezers.
Moderna's vaccine, however, is similar to Pfizer's in that both require people to be vaccinated twice.
Doctors say residents probably won't have an option as to which vaccine they will get.
Around 6 million doses of Moderna's vaccine will be shipped across the country, with New York expected to get around 346,000 of those doses.
Officials say health care workers and the elderly will be getting the vaccine before the general public.
