The state Department of Transportation will be investigating the safety of a Mount Tremper intersection after two Kingston teenagers died in a car crash.
Three passenger cars and a tractor-trailer crashed at the intersection of Routes 28 and 212 on Jan. 8.
Kingston High School students Dillon Gokey, 16, Jack Noble, 17, both died.
In response, Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger sent a letter to the DOT on Friday requesting they analyze the safety of the intersection. Later that day, the state DOT granted the request.
Metzger says she's thankful for the DOT's responsiveness, saying, "The state must make every effort to ensure that our state roads are as safe as possible to prevent future tragedies from occurring."
