Police: Stamford man and woman face several charges in New Rochelle

A Stamford man and woman are facing charges in New Rochelle, New York.

Jasiah Amari Curry, 21, and Nia Aponte Highsmith, 19, were caught stealing license plates in a parking lot at 11 Garden St. Tuesday morning.

Officials say the two suspects arrived at the scene in a stolen white Nissan Altima and entered a stolen black Jeep Grand Cherokee, where they changed their clothes.

Both cars were taken from Connecticut.

Police say Curry was carrying an illegal Polymer 80 ghost gun and was carrying four 9mm bullets at the time of his arrest.

Curry and Highsmith were charged with possession of stolen vehicles, theft of license plates and weapons offenses.
