A gas leak at a McDonald’s in the Arcadian Shopping Center late Wednesday night was caused by a malfunctioning HVAC unit, according to the Ossining Fire Department. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters responded to the fast-food restaurant just after 10:30 p.m. and confirmed the smell of gas in the front of the building. Upon inspection, crews traced the source of the leak to heating and ventilation equipment located on the roof.

Con Edison was called to the scene to assist. The fire department has since "red-tagged" the unit, taking it out of service for repairs.

Officials noted that the incident serves as a reminder of the impact of winter weather on external machinery. The fire department stated that extreme cold, ice and snow can cause appliances to malfunction, potentially leading to more significant safety issues.
