A family is desperately searching for a Yorktown Heights woman who has been missing since last Tuesday.
Yorktown Heights native Melody Larocca says her 43-year-old sister, Harmony Thaler, is suffering from a spinal cord injury and also has bipolar disorder.
Larocca says she got into an argument with Thaler last Monday, and went to her home Thursday to try to make amends. She says that when she arrived, Thaler was nowhere to be found.
After filing a missing persons report, Larocca says that detectives told her that Thaler called a cab to take her to the Croton-Harmon train station after stopping at a bank.
Thaler had mentioned to her boyfriend that she wanted to visit Florida or Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, according to Larocca. She says that after calling numerous hotels in both areas, nothing has turned up.
Thaler is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, 160 pounds and has brown hair, brown eyes and a tribal tattoo on her upper-left arm.
Anyone with information on Thaler's whereabouts is urged to call Yorktown police at 914-962-4145.
