Dozens of families in one Yonkers apartment building have been without heat for over a week, forcing many of them to find warmth elsewhere.
The Hampton Inn on Executive Boulevard in Yonkers has become a temporary home for dozens of families who live at 7383 Highland Ave.
The Highland Avenue building has been without heat for more than 10 days. Neighbors say a boiler broke on Dec. 31.
The city has condemned 20 apartments, and neighbors say they were sent to the hotel by the landlord on Friday.
"Nobody's offering any money back for my food. So now I have to figure out another way to eat for the next three days," said resident Sharon Carter.
News 12 spoke to the landlord, Israel Roizman, over the phone. He said he was giving tenants whatever they asked for. He hoped the system would be back tonight and that they could return tomorrow.
Neighbors say they are paid up at the hotel until Wednesday.
