Falling tree kills NYCHA employee in East New York

The NYPD says a 56-year-old man was struck and killed by a falling tree in East New York during the storm Saturday. The New York City Housing Association (NYCHA) tells News 12 the victim was a NYCHA employee.
Emergency personnel rushed to NYCHA's Cypress Hills Houses at 700 Euclid Ave. just before 3:30 p.m.
Citizen app footage from the frightening scene inside a parking lot shows FDNY crews working to rescue the victim from underneath the tree.
Police say paramedics rushed the man to Brookdale Hospital, where he died.
His identity is pending family notification.
A NYCHA spokesperson issued the following statement.
“We can confirm that this individual was a NYCHA employee. We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and the NYCHA community.”
