A former boss of one of Yonkers most powerful unions is accused of credit card misuse and influence peddling in spite of signing a deal to stay out of union business.
According to a letter obtained by News 12, Teamsters Union General President James P. Hoffa is stepping in to push out former Teamsters Local 456 head Edward Doyle Sr.
Doyle had agreed to step away on his own in the late 1990s.
He'd been accused in 1998 of embezzling funds and agreed not to participate in any union activity for seven years.
That ended in 2006, but investigators say Doyle has been running the show the whole time from behind the scenes while also misusing union credit cards for dinners.
News 12 called Doyle for comment on the accusations against him, but he has not responded.
