A former NYPD officer from Yonkers turned himself in at the Westchester County Courthouse following his guilty plea to a drunken shooting spree in Pelham.
There was an outburst of tears from Brendan Cronin's family when officers handcuffed and led him away this morning.
Cronin, 28, admitted that while off duty in April 2014, he used his police-issued 9mm Glock to fire 14 shots into a car stopped at the intersection of Lincoln and Sixth avenues in Pelham. He says he had been at a training class earlier in the day and then went drinking at a bar in City Island in the Bronx. He admitted to having at least 10 drinks.
The two men inside the car, Joseph Felice and Robert Borrelli, both from New Rochelle, were returning home from a hockey game at the time.
Borrelli escaped injury, but Felice was hit six times. While Felice says he has healed, he still has a bullet in his chest.
"Rob and I will have to live with the scars of this event. Not only us, but our families. Collectively, between Rob's family and my family, we've already served seven and a half years," says Felice.
Cronin faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in the plea deal that will send him to prison on four felony counts of attempted murder and assault, as well as a misdemeanor DWI charge.
He will be sentenced on Dec. 2. Cronin was fired from the force Tuesday.
