As the summer vacation draws to a close and school is set to begin, activists continue to protest against the East Ramapo school district.
A demonstration on Sunday was one of several in recent days outside the homes of school board members.
Critics say the board, which is dominated by members of the local Orthodox Jewish community, help private religious schools at the expense of the public schools.
On Aug. 13, former New York City Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott was appointed by the state to monitor the East Ramapo school district.
School begins on Sept. 9 for all students in East Ramapo.
Activists say they will hold off on further demonstrations until after the coming Jewish holidays.
