Recruits from the Dutchess County Law Enforcement Academy helped a Poughkeepsie resident recover stolen Christmas gifts on Monday afternoon.
Authorities say recruits were taking a fitness test when a nearby resident reported that a package was taken from her porch on Parker Avenue.
The woman said the package contained items including holiday gifts for her children.
She showed the recruits doorbell footage of the incident.
The recruits then alerted Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office staff, who launched a search and quickly located a suspect.
