The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office is warning residents to beware of a call scam.

A resident reported receiving a call from an 845-area code, purportedly from "Sheriff Kirk Imperative" and a "Captain Stevens," demanding money for failing to appear for grand jury duty or face jail time.

Residents are reminded not to send any money over the phone and to contact the sheriff's office at 845-486-3800 if they receive a similar call.
