A sad update this morning as a horse in Dutchess County had to be put down.
News 12 first told you about "Hitch" earlier in the week. Officials at 13 Hands Equine Rescue say the animal had been under emergency care since Monday after slipping on ice and needing to be rescued.
Although the 30-year-old horse managed to stand with the help of a sling, he was too weak to do it on his own.
Officials say it was a difficult decision to make. The animal's kindness, resilience, and spirit will be remembered for years to come.
