A dramatic rescue unfolded in Dutchess County when two horses from the 13 Hands Equine Rescue in Clinton Corners slipped on ice.

While one horse managed to regain its footing, the situation was more challenging for Hitch, an older horse, due to his age.

The rescue operation involved several local agencies, including the Stanfordville and Patterson Fire Departments along with assistance from Matt's Autobody.

After several hours of effort, Hitch was transported to Rhinebeck Equine for further care where he is now improving and able to receive visitors.

The 13 Hands Equine Rescue is currently soliciting donations to help cover the costs of Hitch's care.
