The Anderson Center for Autism, a Dutchess County facility serving individuals with autism across the state, has been awarded $3 million in state funding.
Officials say the funds will address the center's workforce shortage and enhance the quality of life for individuals with autism.
"When you think about the fact that one in 68 children have autism, that speaks to the need we all have to have trained professionals who can step into roles here, or in group homes and help them get to a place of independent living," say Gov. Kathy Hochul (D).
The Anderson Center provides year-round residence and schooling for about 250 children with moderate to severe autism symptoms.
