A dump truck flipped over along a busy road in Peekskill Monday morning, injuring three people.
Police say it was around 9 a.m. when the truck carrying rock salt was traveling eastbound on Route 6, also known as the Bear Mountain Bridge Road. They say the rock salt shifted while the truck was going downhill, causing the truck to flip over. One other car trying to avoid the accident crashed into a rock on the side of road.
First responders say the truck was heavily damaged and the roof had to be cut off to extricate the driver.
Three people were sent to the hospital with minor injuries.
The roadway was shut down in both directions for nearly two hours, causing serious traffic delays.
