Some streets in New Rochelle still aren't passable after Saturday's snowstorm.
Department of Public Works employees say the majority of Saturday night's focus was on New Rochelle's major roadways, but they add that minor roads were not ignored.
"Last night they made a lot of passes through the different streets, and with the gusting winds and the blowing snow, they got covered over again," says New Rochelle Commissioner of Public Works Alexander Tergis.
While the department's 15 trucks spent the day clearing the streets, drivers continued to navigate narrow, snow-coated roads and hills.
Tergis says he plans on keeping DPW trucks on 12-hour shifts through at least Monday afternoon.
