Road crews across the Hudson Valley spent Tuesday making snow preparations with as much as 8 inches of snow in the forecast for Wednesday.
In Orange County, Warwick DPW Commissioner Jeff Feagles says dozens of workers will be out in an effort to keep roads clear and safe.
"Right now, everything's mixed, ready to go," he says. "The guys are tweaking their trucks because they're saying 2 to 4, 5 to 8 (inches of snow), with a little bit of ice on top of it," Feagles says.
In Westchester County, Ossining Highway Superintendent Michael O'Connor says at least 10 trucks are ready to roll -- if needed.
"Punxsutawney Phil said there's six more weeks of winter, but Staten Island Chuck says there's not," O'Connor says. "But you know, we always get that big storm in February."
O'Connor is urging drivers to stay off the roads Wednesday morning if they can.
If they can't, O'Connor says his department will have the roads clear.
"When we go home, we have black pavement," he says. "When the snow comes, we step up to the plate."
Ossining has 34 cul-de-sacs in town, according to O'Connor. And he promises all 34 will get plowed.
