Dozens of people were evacuated after a fire broke out in a New Rochelle apartment complex.
Residents reported hearing fire alarms around 9:30 a.m.
Emergency crews quickly responded to Pelham Hall, a two-tower apartment complex on Pelham Road. Witnesses described thick, black smoke emanating from the basement and first floors.
"I heard a couple of alarms going off. By the time we arrived at the basement floor, there was already a lot of smoke, so we just came right out into the street," said Marie Torres, a New Rochelle resident.
Officials have not yet provided an update on the cause of the fire or any injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
