Flames shot up from the ground Wednesday in Croton-on-Hudson after an underground electrical fire broke out on McGuire Lane.

Firefighters responded to the scene and found a transformer fire burning below the surface.

Video showed flames rising through the street as crews worked to contain the fire.

Fire officials coordinated with Con Edison and brought the situation under control within an hour.
