Thousands of dog lovers came together in Yorktown to raise awareness about animal cruelty this weekend.
The SPCA held its 11th annual Walkathon and Pet Fair at FDR Park, and all kinds of adorable dogs were there with their owners to walk and take pictures together.
Officials say it's the largest fundraising event of the year for the non-profit organization. "It's such a fun event. I mean dogs get to socialize with each other. We have got a lot of fun activities for dogs and children to do - arts and crafts. It's a fun day to go out and meet people and support the SPCA," says SPCA Executive Director Shannon Laukhhuf.
In addition to raising awareness about animal cruelty, the event featured dogs who are available for adoption.
