Developers broke ground Wednesday on a new billion-dollar complex in Sleepy Hollow.
The 67-acre site, located on the banks of the Hudson River, was the site of the former General Motors plant. It had been abandoned for nearly two decades
The Edge on Hudson will be complete with townhomes, lofts, restaurants and a hotel.
It will be open to the public and include 16 acres of parkland and a direct connection to Kingsland Point Park.
Construction is expected to begin shortly, and developers hope to have the first house built by the end of 2018.
A new townhome at the complex could cost more than $1 million, but developers say they have allocated about five dozen units for seniors and low-income workers.
Gov. George Pataki held a groundbreaking ceremony on the site in 2002, but the project never made it off the ground.
