A Sullivan County detective who was injured while executing a search warrant was released a hospital in Middletown Monday.

The Village of Liberty police arrested Tyrone Hagans on Aug. 30 for allegedly selling drugs at his home.

Officials say detectives secured a search warrant to search Hagans apartment at 76 Champlin Ave. When officers tried to breach the apartment door, a distraction device known as a "flash bang" went off prematurely and injured Detective Ryan Fridrich.

Fridrich was treated at the scene by tactical paramedics for a serious hand injury and then taken to Garnet Orange Hospital.
