The Mount Vernon woman accused in a deadly hit-and-run appeared in court today.

Carla Scott, of Mount Vernon, was arraigned and denied bail last week after she was charged in the deadly incident that took Glynis Pinto's life. Today, Scott's attorney asked that the proceedings be adjourned until May 6 and that request was granted.

Surveillance video shows Pinto stepping in front of a black sedan, when the car suddenly lunges forward knocking the mother of five children up onto the car. The 37-year-old Yonkers woman clings to the hood as the car speeds through the intersection of Warburton Avenue and Babcock Place in Yonkers. Pinto was later thrown from the vehicle out of camera range, run over and later pronounced dead at the hospital.

After an extensive search and dozens of leads, Scott, 34, was arrested in the case. According to family members, the two women had a prior dispute and had been fighting over a man.

Scott has been charged with second-degree manslaughter and has been in jail since her arrest.
