Westchester County dads learned new parenting skills Tuesday to help them be stronger father figures.
It was all part of Westchester County's fifth annual New York Fathering Conference.
The event was created five years ago to address the issue of disengaged fathers.
The annual event teaches families why fathers are an important part of a household.
"It gives dads a feeling of belonging if nothing else. A lot of dads may not have support. A lot of systems support moms, children, but not a lot of systems support fathers. This gives them a way to plug in,” says Patrick Patterson, keynote speaker and president of Global Partners for Fathers & Families.
