An early morning fire at a former Croton-on-Hudson estate is being deemed as suspicious.
Crews say the fire initially destroyed a garage on the former estate at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
The building is part of the historic Stokes-Green estate purchased by Westchester County in 1991 for nearly $5 million. The county had plans to turn the site into a park.
The fire is not the first suspicious blaze to strike the estate. In 2005, the grandiose mansion burned to the ground. The cause was eventually ruled to be arson.
