A Chappaqua house fire displaced 10 people and a dog Wednesday afternoon, prompting a response from about a dozen fire departments.
It happened around 4 p.m. at 72 Leroy Road, a more than 11,000-square-foot home at the top of a long, narrow road. Authorities say they had to lay down more than 2,000 feet of hose to fight the fire.
Chief Greg Balogna, of the Chappaqua Fire Department, says crews battled flames around a chimney where workers had been earlier in the day. Complicating matters were the home's slate roof and solar panels.
There were no reported injuries, but the fire damaged half of the house.
