The fire broke out just before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night at a 137-year-old home on Shonnard Terrace.

Wednesday coverage

Forty-seven firefighters worked to bring the fire under control. Crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading beyond the top portion of the house.

There was heavy smoke and water damage throughout the home.

The Red Cross is now assisting the displaced residents.

Fire officials said the response was challenging due to extreme weather and the location of the home. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
