A Court of Appeals decision overturning Clarkstown's term limit law clears the way for the incumbent to seek reelection for a third term.
Rockland Republican Chairman Lawrence Garvey does not plan to run for Clarkstown Town supervisor after a court of appeals ruling allows incumbent George Hoehmann to seek a third term.
That decision voided the town's term limit law by finding it was adopted illegally in 2014.
Garvey announced his candidacy last December as a contingency move in case the court barred Hoehmann from running.
Garvey's name will still appear on the ballot - but he tells News 12 Hoehmann is the best choice.
Hoehmann tells News 12 he will make an official decision on whether to run this week.
