A Rockland County coupon expert used her skills to help hundreds of people this holiday.
Anna D'Souza took her coupon hobby to deliver a Christmas gift to Meals on Wheels, an organization that feeds the elderly and shut-ins.
In addition to food, she donated numerous personal care items, such as shampoo, which Meals on Wheels is passing on to other agencies.
D'Souza has been clipping coupons and saving money while shopping for many years.
Whatever she buys, she also donates to charities, including Meals on Wheels.
The president and CEO of Rockland's Meals On Wheels says this donation is really significant.
"This is really huge," said Meals on Wheels CEO Don Hammond. "It will allow us to give extra food to our homebound seniors. So we will be able to give extra soup. Now that we are entering the winter months, there may be times when we may not be able to deliver, or even to give them extra meals during the evenings."
About 1,000 people will benefit from the donation.
