Cortland Manor man dies in Putnam Valley crash
Police say that 65-year-old James Cottrell was driving on Route 301 near Taconic State Parkway Friday afternoon when he lost control of his car.

Police say that 65-year-old James Cottrell was driving on Route 301 near Taconic State Parkway Friday afternoon when he lost control of his car and struck a guardrail. Police say that the car then overturned on a rock embankment.
Cottrell was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three firefighters received minor injuries while trying to free Cottrell from the car.
