An Orange County man is facing charges after police say he held his wife and two kids hostage inside their home.
Police were called to a home on Front Street in Port Jervis yesterday after Donald Beach, 28, allegedly choked his wife in front of their two children. For hours, Beach prevented his family from leaving the house, but he eventually let them go.
Police tell News 12 that Beach was arrested after successful telephone negotiations. "After several hours at the scene, we were able to make contact with Mr. Beach, convince him to surrender himself, which he did without any further incident," says Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden.
Beach was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful imprisonment.
