A Rockland man convicted of firebombing a neighbor's house in the Hasidic village of New Square over a religious squabble is being released from prison.
Shaul Spitzer, 22, was given youthful offender status after being resentenced by a judge in Rockland County Court Tuesday.
Spitzer was 18 years old in 2011 when he targeted Aron Rottenberg for not worshipping at the main synagogue in New Square. Rottenberg was seriously burned in the incident.
Spitzer, who had been serving a seven-year sentence for the crime, will most likely be released Wednesday from the Eastern Correctional Facility in Ulster County.
