Authorities say a man from Danbury, Connecticut is accused of setting multiple fires in the town of Southeast.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department says when deputies responded to a brush fire at the end of last month, the Brewster Fire Department told them they've worked an unusual number of similar fires in the area over the last year.
Investigators used an arson detection dog to learn an accelerant was used at some of the fires.
Investigators also did surveillance work and found 71-year-old Frederick Delfay on Old Milltown Road, where the fires were happening.
Deputies say Delfay has admitted to setting the fires, but there is no word on why.
He faces five counts of arson in the fifth degree.
