Tuesday's announcement of a multiyear, multimillion-dollar plan to breathe new life into Rye Playland received rave reviews from many. But just a day later, a growing number of Rye residents are voicing concern.
"As part of the new development, there are gonna be issues in regard to noise, traffic, garbage, lighting," says Rye Mayor Joe Sack. "These new fields are gonna have big outdoor stadium lighting, so all of these things impact our community," he said.
Astorino pointed out that highlights of the new plan would include bringing in new rides, restoring the existing ones and upgrading the restaurants.
The county would also get $2 million upfront.
Just last year, Rye residents spoke out against a failed plan by "Sustainable Playland" that included an 82,000-square-foot field house for lacrosse and soccer, and three outdoor athletic fields.
