Customers and county lawmakers held a special meeting Monday to find out why the power went out for so long. County Legislator Tom Abinanti (D-Westchester) called Con Edison?s recent problems a ?power outrage.? He says it?s shocking that thousands of people in Westchester and Hudson Valley sat for days in the dark and that some people are still waiting for power to be restored. Listing the tornado, heat wave, high winds and thunderstorms, Con Ed spokesman Mark Drexel defended the company. He says everyone who lives in the area knows about the unprecedented weather. However, Legislator Mike Kaplowitz (D-Westchester) thinks Con Ed can do more to improve its infrastructure and communication with the public.
