State and local elected officials, alongside MacQuesten Development, LLC, cut the ribbon Wednesday on The St. Clair, a new 10-story affordable housing development at 36-38 Main St.

The building features 76 affordable apartments for households earning up to 80% of the area median income.

Officials say leasing began earlier this summer, and 87% of the units have already been filled.

The project is part of Gov. Kathy Hochul's $25 billion housing plan aimed at creating or preserving 100,000 affordable homes statewide.

Officials say the development's location offers residents easy access to public transportation, including Metro-North and Bee-Line bus service.
