A community is in mourning after a missing teen was found dead in Suffern.
Wilson Atz had been gone for over a month. The 18-year-old from Suffern was last seen leaving a bar on Lafayette Avenue in the early morning hours of Dec. 20.
A man says he saw Atz leave the bar alone, staggering and didn't see anyone help him.
"He couldn't even walk by himself. He was, you know, balancing his body…,” said the witness.
Local officials searched for the teen for over a month - even nearby businesses, including Kinchley's Tavern where Atz worked got involved asking people to share any tips about his whereabouts.
The search came to a tragic end Sunday afternoon when volunteers found his remains in Lake Antrim, near Wayne Avenue.
Plans for Atz's burial arrangements are underway.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Suffern police at 845-357-2300.
