People living in Yonkers are again calling for a stop to the recent violence in their community.
On Thursday, City Councilmember Sandy Annabi held an open forum meeting to address the concerns of the community. Community based organizations, education officials, police officials, and members of city council listened as parents told them they are afraid for their kids. They say they want options so their teenagers don't end up getting involved with gangs and guns.
Many parents are asking for community centers in their neighborhoods and more funding for athletic programs. While some don?t know if that will be a viable option, they still are encouraged that the lines of communication were opened between the city council and its residents.
